Christine Williams, a relatively new golfer, will represent Farrington Golf Club in a national competition later this year.
She won the Ladies Golf Union medal and now travels to High Post, Salisbury, to represent the club in the regional final on August 29.
Christine, a retired office worker, is also a keen tennis player. She has recently moved from Bishop Sutton to Peasedown, and was obliged to play off 36 during the club's qualifier, even though her handicap was 39. She has now been cut three shots after totting up 39 points.
"I was amazed," she said after her victory. "I didn't have any thoughts about winning. I just go out twice a week to enjoy my game.
"I love it. I started on the nine-hole course and moved to the 18-hole course three years ago. It's the best thing I've done. The course may be hard but it just goes on improving. Taking up golf and joining Farrington was the best thing I've done since I learned to drive."
