STEVE Cornish's rink ensured Rodbourne Cheney stayed top in Division 1 of the Swindon and District Four-Rink Bowls League, with a 91-67 win over Wootton Bassett A.
Vince Hilton's rink picked up seven shots for Bassett, beating Dave Jones 23-16 and Cheney's Tony Flemington and Chris Jones finished all square on 17 shots apiece. Gary Morphet pulled four shots back for the leaders with a 22-18 win over Maurice Brown but the rink of Steve Cornish proved match winners with a massive 36-9 shot win over Eric Matthews.
Second-in-the-table Shrivenham gained a narrow three-shot win over visitors Wroughton by 79-76. Wroughton's Roger Cornish chalked up two points for his side with a 24-14 win over Ken Downton's rink but rinks led by Roy Dixon, John Simpson and Brian Hayward reduced the deficit and picked up a further three shots to run out victors.
Town Gardens lost their unbeaten record at the top of Division Two going down by nine shots to Marlborough, 68-59 despite winning three rinks out of the four.
Barry Pittuck, Malcolm Price and Les Sullivan all narrowly won their rinks but Dave Herold's rink lost 30-10 to D Jones to give the visitors victory.
Good wins for Ken Knox, Tom Hinde and Jamie Titcombe enabled Westlecot B to beat County Ground 92-68.
