BRIDE-to-be Amanda Court is delighted that her cancelled wedding is back on after her fiance returned from the Gulf this week.

The 22-year-old from Rudloe had to cancel the wedding at the last minute in March when Sergeant Paul Chamberlain, 26, was told he could not leave the Gulf, where he was taking part in exercises in Kuwait.

The couple were devastated and may still lose £10,000 because their insurers will not pay up.

But Miss Court was lucky enough to get a cancellation and they will now marry on June 11 at St Bartholomew's Church, in Corsham.

"If there hadn't have been a cancellation we would have had to wait until November. But we didn't want to wait any longer after the first one was cancelled," she said.

"We are having the same reception, we only had to change the photographer and hair lady. Everything fell back into place."

Miss Court was speaking on Friday, hours before Mr Chamberlain, from the Germany-based 1 UK Armoured Division, was due to arrive back in England after spending more than two months in Iraq.

He spent some time in Basra but has yet to talk to Miss Court about his experience while he was out there.

"He is quite an emotional guy," she said. "It has hit him hard and I didn't want to ask him about it until I can see him face to face.

"He is over the moon about the wedding. He said that was the best present to come home to."

She said she was both nervous and excited about seeing Mr Chamberlain again after being apart for three and a half months.

The couple now face a battle with the insurance company over the initial wedding plans.

"We have had to pay for everything a second time," said Miss Court.

"The insurance company still won't pay out and are still saying it is because we were at war.

"They have a clause about terrorism but not about war. I am going to fight them all the way.

"They want letters to prove he was in the Gulf. But his boss is still there so it is a bit of hassle. He won't be back until after we get married."

But Miss Court said the insurers could not ruin her big day and she can't wait to get married.

"I was gutted about the last wedding and I am very nervous about it this time because I don't want anything to go wrong. But I am very excited, too."

Although she is very excited about the wedding Miss Court said she had not enjoyed arranging it for a second time.

"It has been very monotonous." she said. "Paul has been back in Germany for two weeks but I haven't been able to go and see him because I had to arrange the wedding.

"Lots of Paul's friends and family can't make it this time, which is a shame, but we didn't want to wait another six months."

Once they are married the couple will move to the base in Herford, North Germany and live in married quarters.

Miss Court is still not able to work since she injured her back in November last year while working as a shop assistant.

"I am waiting to see a back specialist at Bath. I will have to fly back for that. I am not planning to work for the time being until it is better," she said.

This week the couple were due to visit Mr Chamberlain's family in Norwich before getting ready for the big day.

Miss Court is currently living with her parents in Kidston Way, Rudloe, while waiting until she can join Mr Chamberlain in Germany as his wife.

The couple met in a gym in Cyprus two years ago when Miss Court's father was working for the RAF before he was posted to Rudloe.
