DASH2, the action group set up to fight for a new hospital for Devizes, will continue to lobby for services.
Last Thursday the Kennet and North Wiltshire Primary Care Trust approved a strategy which will result in a new hospital being built in Green Lane by the end of 2005.
But the trust also agreed to cut services in a bid to save £10million.
From October 20 beds will close at Devizes Hospital and a number of out-patient clinics will be axed. The minor injuries unit will also cut its 24-hour opening to 8am to 10pm.
But the trust has agreed the beds will not be closed if it does not have an intermediate care team in place.
The team will comprise health professionals, such as nursing assistants, physiotherapists and occupational therapists who will provide short-term intensive rehabilitation for people in their own homes or in a care home.
Mayor and DASH2 chairman Paula Winchcombe said: "We are challenging the PCT to keep their promises. We intend to keep pressing them to explain and clarify their decisions.
"The PCT has offered us a place on the project group for the new Devizes hospital."
