THE first of a unique annual series of Pond Concerts in the village of Aldbourne takes place on Sunday.
The award-winning Aldbourne Band has a long tradition of playing around the village pond on the first Sunday of each month in the summer, attracting large audiences.
Some believe that the Aldbourne village pond was the setting for the folklore tale that gives Wiltshire people the title of Moonrakers.
But it is not disputed that the pond has led to Aldbourne residents being referred to as Dabchicks after the birds who frequent the pond.
The June, July and August concerts all start at 7.15pm while the last in the series in September begins at 6.45pm as the evenings draw in.
The concerts also provide an opportunity to buy the band's recently released CD.
