THERE was success again for Val Hillier when she won the first match, fishing for her new club Book Club Associates at Ivy House last weekend.

Drawn on the rushes, Hillier took a nice bag of carp that weighed 14-15-0 to finish well ahead of second placed Fred Brown who also took carp for a 7-12-0 weight. Third all carp and bits was Paul Hunt with 6-10-0 and fourth place went to Dereck Hillier husband of the winner with 5lb.

Paul Hunt went two places better in the Wednesday Club match held at Raychem lagoon he took 9-2-0 of bream beating regular framer Mick Robins 8-6-0 and third was Graham Rose 7-10-0.

Weights were better in the Greenhill Fishery Open held last week. Dave Watkins fishing worm lead the field with 10-5-0 of tench.

Second was Fred Allan with an all carp catch of 9-4-0 and third was the water owner Mark Wakefield with 5-12-0 of roach and skimmers.

Plaums AC have arranged three Open matches in their lake, these being Friday May 30. Draw 5.15pm. Fish 6.15pm to 9.15pm.

Results: Sat May 21 (2 matches) 7am dram. Fish 8am to 1pm and then 3pm draw. Fish 4pm to 9pm.

With the current coarse fishing season coming up on June 16 where we can fish on rivers, a number of clubs have their membership now available from the shops. Isis AC, Chippenham AC, Clanfield, Radcot and Swindon Golden Carp and then for stillwaters, Peatmoor AC and Wootton Bassett AC.
