MALMESBURY were crushed by Wootton Bassett in an under 15 game in the Wiltshire Youth League.

Bassett made 115 all out in 47 overs with Sam Lawro top scoring with 25. Luke Jenner, Daniel Cole and Jack Ward each took two wickets for Malmesbury.

Robert Giannotti (3-14) and Thomas Fisher (2-13) soon had Malmesbury in trouble and only Ward reached double figures as Malmesbury were bowled out for 45 in just 17 overs to give Bassett victory by 70 runs (Malmesbury 5 points, Wootton Bassett 20 points).

Cannings continued their good start to the season with a resounding 133-run victory at Calne. The Cannings innings was dominated by Charles Moss, who continued his good form with a fine 94, and opener Lee Pitman who batted through the innings making 76 not out. Cannings' total of 204-3 secured them maximum batting points.

Courtney Earle (33) gave Calne a solid start but the innings fell away badly against the quick bowling of Adam Croutear who took 4-10 in just five overs. Mathew Walmsley and Paul Pitman also took two wickets each as Calne were bowled out for 71 in 19 overs (Calne 1, Cannings 27).

In the under 11s Chippenham Arrows bowled tidily to restrict Malmesbury to 46-5 in their 20 overs. Uzair Qureshi then made 17 not out to see Chippenham home to a comfortable nine-wicket victory (Chippenham 12 points, Malmesbury 0).

At Calne, Stewart Windsor (2-8) and M Smart (3-9) led the home attack as Chippenham Blades reached 56-6. Andrew Edwards (2-3) and Nicholas Harrison (2-4) made inroads into the Calne batting before Windsor and Smart defended well to secure a draw for Calne as they finished on 36-7 (Calne 6, Chippenham 9).
