WRITER and storyteller Beth Webb delighted pupils at John of Gaunt School with tales based on folklore of the Quantocks.
Year seven pupils had the chance to work with Mrs Webb, learning some of her professional techniques for crafting stories, before trying their hands at writing themselves.
Organiser Priscilla Bishop said: "The visit has proved to be a great inspiration to everyone who took part.
"Thanks to Lottery funding, this is the third year in a row that we have been able to invite an author into school to work with the pupils."
Members of the school's book club also enjoyed a trip to the prehistoric sites at Avebury.
Parents of book club members were invited to the school library to see he work produced over the time the children had spent with Mrs Webb.
The school is also displaying the work of art students and has just held an open day so parents can see what has been achieved.
Rachael Brown, head of art and design, said: "The wide range of imaginative work that our students produce always amazes me."
