A GAME played under heavy skies at the County Ground, Trowbridge on Saturday was washed out with the home side unable to bowl their minimum 30 overs before the 8pm deadline.
Having been put in to bat first, Trowbridge stayed at an encouraging four runs per over for the first 12 overs.
It took the introduction of Jefferies to slow down the rate through bowling a lagging line and the taking of wickets.
Partnerships between Cornelius Burger and Rob Edginton helped regain the middle of the innings.
Des Gingell and Keith Brennan both showed experienced heads to take the innings the distance.
In total four batsmen took their scores into the 20s but none of them were due to go further.
The second innings started at a snail's pace with only 23 runs coming from the first 10 overs.
The wicket of Yarden, caught by Nick Whiting and bowled by Burger, brought the introduction of Leech, whose free flowing shots sought to break the stranglehold of the Trowbridge bowling as he delicately found the gaps in the field.
As Leech's score approached the half century the heavens opened, not once but twice, leaving the visitors 8.3 overs short of their target.
The all-round perseverance of the Trowbridge side will need to improve if they are to beat Hatherley and Reddings in their next match.
