ELEVEN west Wiltshire groups are celebrating after learning their lottery bids have been successful.
The groups have won grants ranging from £700 to £5,000 under the Lottery Awards for All scheme designed to give cash sums to 'grass root' community groups and organisations.
Trowbridge Westbourne Tennis Club was awarded £5,000 to fund mini-tennis courses for schoolchildren, which organisers hope to host in primary schools and sports halls.
Studley Green Community Day Centre was awarded £3,000 to take its members on outings and Bradford on Avon Life Saving and Lifeguard Club will use its £3,259 grant to pay for extra training sessions.
Among the other groups celebrating grant approvals are Westbury Amateur Swimming Club, the Charlotte Court Residents Group and the Festival of Fools.
Two groups in north Wiltshire were successful in their bids including Sutton Benger Primary School, which was given £1,150 to fund a story teller and artist for a week-long workshop and Dancers Inc a group awarded £1,350 to set up creative dance classes for parents and toddlers in Chippenham.
Government lottery awards totalling £737,638 were given to 280 groups in the south west.
