FLOWERS and plants were the theme of a street fair in Trowbridge at the weekend.
People flocked to the floral fair in the town centre on Saturday to see a wide range of plants and flowers, as well as stalls run by local charities and community groups.
There was also street entertainment from the Comic Creation Company and Tricky Nicky and musicians Graham and Sandy Ball.
The fair, opened by town mayor Glyn Bridges, was organised as part of the run-up to the annual Trowbridge in Bloom competition.
Chris Scrivens from Trowbridge Town Council said: "Trow-bridge in Bloom brightens up the town and is always well received.
"We want to en-courage commercial and residential entries."
This year's competition, on July 20, will include an open gardens' day when former winners and other volunteers open their gardens to the public, a photographic competition for schools and youth organisations, and a floral wheelbarrow competition for schools.
Anyone who wants to enter the open gardens' day should contact Mike Prior on (01225) 777767 for further details.
Entry forms for all the competitions are available from Trowbridge town council offices.
For further information contact Daryl Saville-Brown on (01225) 402096.
