Catches last week at Chew Valley were dominated by big fish and topped by a rainbow trout which tipped the scales at 11lb 12oz.
The fish fell to Gloucestershire angler Mike Cooke who took the fish while boat fishing in Villice Bay using a tiny size 12 Olive Blakestone Buzzer.
The fish fought very hard and was difficult to land on his 5lb line.
Last week's Waterside AC of Radstock match produced some good weights at Rood Ashton. Honours went to Midsomer Norton's Matt James with a carp catch weighing 48lb 6oz. Tich Rider of Midsomer Norton was second with another carp catch weighing 44lb 4oz taken on pole-fished pellets on a 14 hook. He was followed by Westbury's Mick Higgins with a carp catch of 43lb 3oz.
The Viaduct Open match once again provided great sport with carp feeding well. Top honours went to Sensas Viaduct's Paul Greenwood with an all carp catch weighing 79lb 14oz.
Airsprung gained a narrow win over Warminster in their inter-club event at Rood Ashton on Sunday. Airsprung amassed a team weight of 263lb 0oz to Warminster's 231 lb 0 oz. Individual honours went to Warminster's Ray Wave with an all carp catch weighing 46lb 0oz. Trowbridge's Bill turner took second prize with a carp catch weighing 38lb 10 oz taken alternating with pole fished sweetcorn, worms and pellets. He was followed by team mate Steve Green with another carp catch weighing 37lb 4oz taken on feeder fished sweetcorn on a 14 hook. Other placings: 4 Wayne Henley Trowbridge 35lb 8oz; 5 Ian Stainer Bradford 34lb 8oz; 6 Mark Green Trowbridge 33lb 10oz.
The Wilts Angling Open match fished on Sunday at Walden Farm produced some good weights of carp. Honours went to Melksham matchman Bob Gould with an all carp catch weighing 55 lb 8 oz taken on pole fished cat meat and sweetcorn. Runner up prize went to Bradford matchman Dean Adams with a mixed catch of carp. Skimmers and roach weighing 49lb 0oz taken on pole- fished pellets on a 14 hook. He was followed by Trowbridge matchman Howard Carpenter took third prize with a carp catch weighing 30lb 12 oz taken on pole-fished sweetcorn on a 14 hook. Other placings: 4 Mick Martin Trowbridge 27lb 6oz; 5 Fred Eagles Trowbridge 25lb 14oz; 6 Dave baker Trowbridge 22lb 10oz.
Witherington Farm staged the Wilts Angling Open match on Wednesday where carp fed well. Top honours went to Trowbridge matchman Mick Gunning with an all carp catch weighing 73lb 0oz taken on pole-fished pellets on a 14 hook. Holt's Pete Neate took second prize with a carp catch weighing 39lb 15 oz taken on pole fished sweetcorn and pellets. He was followed by Bradford's Ian Willetts with a carp catch weighing 38lb 15oz. Other placings: 4. Kevin Payne, Frome 38lb 6oz; 5. Gary Dallimore, Frome 37lb 10oz; 6. Gerry Lugg, Beckington 33lb 10oz.
Weights were close in the Wilts Angling Open match at Rood Ashton. Holt's Pete Neate took top honours with a carp catch weighing 39 lb 15 oz. Frome's Gary Dallimore was second with another carp catch weighing 36lb 12oz. Dean Adams was third.
