BOYS and girls came out to play as the sun shone down on their half term break.
But forecasters are warning the blistering temperatures will not last when the pupils return to school.
That did not bother youngsters at Highworth's outdoor pool though, who were determined to enjoy the hot weather while it lasted.
Highworth Leisure Centre manager Helen Maine said she expected the pool would be full to capacity while the sunny weather lasted.
She said: "We run swimming lessons in the morning and lane swimming for adults during lunchtime, then at 2pm the children come in.
"They love it during the holidays but we are always trying to tell people that it's fine to swim whatever the weather because the water is heated to 26C (79F)."
Northview Primary School pupil Dan Mitchell, 11, from Highworth said: "I like everything about the pool. I prefer being in an outdoor one because it's cooler, and hopefully I'll be coming back a lot more often in the summer holidays."
The temperature in Swindon reached 25C (77F) yesterday, but according to experts at the Met Office it will not get any better than that, for the moment at least.
Today it will be almost as warm but with the sky a little more cloudy, and by Sunday the temperature will have dipped to 16C (61F), with clouds threatening rain.
