A SENIOR nurse who became so disheartened with the NHS that she took early retirement has set up her own clinical practice.
Jan Long from Ashton Keynes retired two years ago and has just launched her business, a personal and professional development centre, which deals with stress-related problems.
Mrs Long, who has also specialised in areas of bereavement and trauma, says she addresses problems through both mind and body, depending on the needs of the patient.
She said: "It's wonderful. It's really going back to my roots with some hands-on, personal care. Interestingly, a lot of men come along with problems such as dealing with anger, and issues in the workplace like bullying."
In the past Mrs Long has done research into the effect and nature of work on staff and developed one of the first Staff Support Services, achieving wide recognition and two national awards.
Set beside the lakes, Whitefriars Lodge is a purpose built centre.
Reduced fees are available for unemployed people and those on low wages.
