THREE hard-working women have been rewarded for their services to the community with a Chippenham Civic Award.
Phyllis Morgan, Margaret Wade and Ivy Ward have each been selected to win an award by Chippenham Town Council. They will receive a certificate and prize on Civic Sunday on September 9.
Phyllis Morgan, of Westcroft, was nominated for her work with the Westcroft Residents Association and the Westcroft Senior Social Club.
She set up the residents association 20 years ago and works with Westlea Housing Association to try and improve life for local people.
Margaret Wade, 82, will receive her award for long-standing service to Cancer Research.
Mrs Wade, of Deansway, joined the Chippenham Cancer Research committee when it was formed in 1958, and estimates since then, she has helped to raise more than £100,000 for the worthy cause.
Secretary of the committee for 38 years, Mrs Wade has been involved in a whole host of fundraising events.
The third recipient of a civic award is Mrs Ivy Ward, who is in her 70s and lives in Broomfield, Chippenham.
Mrs Ward received the accolade for her outstanding work for the Red Cross.
