CHILDREN took a master class in canal art and were thrilled with the colourful results.
Folk artist Jane Wojtowicz led the workshop, which was held in the Swindon Museum and Art Gallery, in Old Town, yesterday (Friday).
She said: "I love the fact that with canal art you can paint almost anything, from old pots to watering cans and glass to barge wood."
Using bright colours, 14 five to 11-year-olds, painted roses and castles on coasters and small wooden barges.
Jodie Ellis, 10, Swindon, said: "It was good fun and something a bit different to try."
Brother and sister, Claire and Alistair Tilney, also welcomed the chance to be creative.
Claire, nine, from Stratton St Margaret, thoroughly enjoyed her day. She said: "Art is my favourite subject at school. So this was brilliant."
The artistic event was part of a canal exhibition currently being held in the museum. Historic photographs, canal memorabilia and a scale model of a horse drawn boat all feature in the exhibition.
