SWINDON Cycling 25 miles non-stop would be a challenge in itself for most people but for Kevin Greener it is a mere warm up.
Kevin, 35, will be taking part in the Castles Mountain Bike Ride around Barbury Castle on June 8 and so far he has raised £100 for Macmillan Cancer Relief.
But that is just the tip of his fundraising.
In August Kevin and his brother Simon will embark on a 150-mile coast-to-coast cycle through the Lake District and the Pennines.
Together they hope to raise £3,000 for the Swindon Cancer Appeal.
Kevin, from Dean Street, in Swindon, said: "We were originally planning to do a 1,000-mile ride from Land's End to John O'Groats but neither of us would have made it back to collect the sponsorship.
"We contacted Sustrans, a charity that encourages people to walk, cycle and use public transport to reduce traffic, and they suggested the coast-to-coast trip.
"I've been cycling for three weeks and have probably done less than 100 miles. I try and do five miles every morning and a 20-mile ride every weekend. Sunday is my day off."
Kevin, a sales manager at Swindon-based Memstar UK, said he decided to sign up for the bike ride after reading the Evening Adver-tiser.
He said: "After reading all about the Swindon Cancer Appeal I thought the 25-mile ride would be a great training exercise leading up to the big one in the summer.
"At the same time I'm earning some sponsorship for a worthwhile charity that is helping people living with cancer. If by sacrificing some of my time over the next few years I can help the appeal, then I will."
Kevin's wife Laura and 18-month-old son Lewis are behind him all the way.
He said: "Laura thinks it's a great idea and is being really supportive.
"All we need now is to keep collecting the sponsorship. Rob Patchett, managing director at Memstar, has agreed to cover my travelling and cost of lodgings for the four-day ride.
"I'm also looking for sponsorship from local companies at the moment to bump up the total."
To sponsor Kevin call 01793 644446. It's not too late to join the 70 riders for the bike ride on Sunday June 8.

The Swindon Cancer Appeal in aid of Macmillan aims to raise enough money for two new Macmillan nurses for the Great Western Hospital and a specialist consultant in cancer care who will work at the GWH and the Prospect Hospice. It will cost around £600,000 to fund these posts for three years, after which the NHS will take over. Some of the money raised will also go towards a fund for a part-time anaesthetist.
