Chippenham overcame Swindon in an exciting first round match of the Under 13 ECB National Knockout.
Batting first, Chippenham had to work hard for their runs against accurate Swindon bowling.
A second wicket partnership of 54 between Jonathan Day (27) and captain James Vince (30 retired) enabled Chippenham to reach 90-3 in their 20 overs.
In reply, captain Paul Laggett (21) and Jamie Firkins (19) gave Swindon an explosive start as they raced to 43 in just six overs.
Vince made the breakthrough by bowling Laggett, and Firkins was then out to a fine catch by Jarryd Goode off Omar Ali Javed.
Spinner Zurain Qureshi tied up the middle order conceding just six runs and taking two wickets in his four overs and gradually Chippenham regained the initiative.
The last over was entrusted to 10-year-old Uzair Qureshi with Swindon needing 11 runs to win. Uzair bowled a tight over and Swindon finished on 83-8 to leave Chippenham victors by seven runs.
Chippenham face either Wootton Bassett or Warminster in the next round.
