Thames Water has won a National Safety Award from the British Safety Council.
It is the first time the company, which has a customer service centre based in Kembrey Park, Swindon, has received the award.
It acknowledges a commitment to improving systems for managing health and safety.
As part of the judging process, Thames Water provided evidence of health and safety policies and procedures, initiatives carried out by the company and innovations in the field.
Peter Brown, Thames Water Global Health and Safety Manager, said: "Winning this is a very satisfying achievement, particularly as all the public and private sector organisations that entered faced a gruelling test to satisfy the judging panel."
