THIS year's Old Town Festival has had a cash boost from a dance troupe which will be part of the celebrations.
More than £400 was handed over by the Moloney School of Irish Dancing following a fundraising evening at the Thistle Hotel. Several medal-winning members of the dancing school had used the evening to give a preview of what was to come at the festival later this year, displaying their abilities to local band Together Again.
The festival will culminate with a parade of all the participants on Saturday, July 5.
On the following day the acts, including the Moloney school, will give a gala performance at the Old Town Bowl.
Terry King, who chairs the organising committee, said: "This is a tremendous boost for the Old Town Festival and I have to thank Patsy and her daughter, Sarah, who runs the dancing school, for their tremendous efforts.
"After we have cleared expenses, all the profits are handed over to local charities."
