Swindon Cricket Club Under-15s, sponsored this year by The Ridgeway
Hospital, beat Malmesbury away in the first round of the Portman Under-15 National Club Cricket Championship.
Swindon captain Marc Williamson won the toss and led the way with the bat, finishing with 49 not out on a damp wicket. His side totalled 79-2 off their 20 overs, a reasonable total in the circumstances.
In reply Malmesbury struggled, finishing on 27-7. Medium pacer Ben Turner and leg spinner Richard Barrett each took two wickets.
In the next round Swindon are due to meet South Wilts at the County Ground on Friday (6.15pm).
