SAM PARKIN would relish the chance to play alongside Dean Holdsworth should Andy King succeed in luring the much-travelled striker to the County Ground.
The 22-year-old feels the addition of an old head would aid a young group of County Ground forwards which, as well as himself, includes Alan Young and Mark Draycott.
He said: "Clearly there is a lot of speculation about players the manager is interested in but Dean Holdsworth has scored goals at the highest level.
"I think young strikers can sometimes benefit from being partnered with more experienced forwards.
"During my time at Northampton I played with Marco Gabbiadini who was a help to me.
"With Danny Invincible and Eric Sabin leaving the club, as a striker, of course I'm interested to see who the manager brings in."
As for his own situation, Parkin will lead Town's attack for at least one more year but supporters are anxious to see him extend his stay beyond that.
He said: "With so many players looking for new clubs this summer I know I'm in a fortunate position.
"One of my best friends has just been freed by Southend and is looking for a new club.
"I have another year on my existing contract but I'm sure the issue will come up when I return to the club.
"There's no hurry but if the club want to talk to me then I'm more than happy to do so.
"Things have gone very well for me at Swindon and I see no reason why it can't continue that way."
Parkin revealed he has already spoken to chairman Willie Carson about boosting his earnings but in a strictly light-hearted sense.
He said: "I was at Goodwood with some friends not so long ago, enjoying a day at the races.
"The chairman was there and I had a very quick chat but the aim was to get some decent tips from him."
Parkin has just returned from a break in Sweden and is now focused on getting back into light training.
He said: "You have to relax during the close season but also keep yourself as fit as possible."
Ticket prices for the pre-season friendly at Torquay United on Wednesday July 23 are as follows: £8 (adults), £5 (senior citizens) and £2 (children).
