If the council officer, Geoff Howe, is favouring an underpass, it follows logically that the correct solution is a flyover.
Our council officers have shown a remarkable consistency in making wrong decisions, so our councillors should pay heed to the 81 per cent of survey respondents who were in favour of the flyover.
When it rains, as sometimes happens in Swindon, the underpass will flood and have to be closed. As long as high-sided vehicles are not permitted to use the flyover, it can be open all the time.
