A JUNIOR school in Faringdon has won praise from Government school inspectors.
Faringdon Junior School is "rapidly improving" and new headteacher Karen Foster provides "excellent leadership and clear educational direction."
The inspectors made a clear link between the higher standards of achievement and improvements in pupil's behaviour throughout the school.
They highlighted the pupil's attitudes, values and personal development.
But two areas for development were identified: organisation of booster groups in year six and raising awareness and understanding of cultural diversity, although the report acknowledged the school had already begun to address these areas.
The report said: "All pupils, whatever their ability, flourish and develop in an atmosphere that supports and values each individual."
Teaching overall was judged to be good with a very high level of very good and excellent ratings.
Since the last inspection in October 1997, the school had made great strides in the role it plays in the community.
Ms Foster said: "I was really pleased that the inspection team acknowledged and celebrated the talents and achievements of our teachers, pupils and school staff."
