BROTHERS Andrew and Robert King have been jailed for six months after they stole thousands of pounds worth of hi-tech equipment to fund their heroin habits.
The pair came to Swindon from their home in Slough to steal DVD players and discs as well as computer games and consoles.
Robert, 23, drove 22-year-old Andrew along the M4 from the Berkshire town despite being banned from the road.
They went to supermarkets to take expensive items, which could be quickly sold to make money to buy more drugs.
Sue Evans, prosecuting, told Swindon Crown Court that the brothers were caught as they headed east on the motorway after being spotted stealing from Tesco on Ocotal Way on April 29.
When the Kings' vehicle was searched she said the men were found to have a basket containing games worth £759.81, which had been taken.
The court heard that three days earlier the brothers had been to the same store and took a total of £960 worth of computer games. And two weeks earlier Andrew King and another man made off with three DVD players and two video recorders with a total value of £929.94.
Andrew King, of Alexander Road, Slough, admitted four thefts and handling stolen goods. Robert King of the same address, admitted two thefts, driving while disqualified and without insurance.
Both of the brothers had been remanded in custody after the April 29 matters and used that time to get themselves clean of drugs, he said.
Recorder William Andreae-Jones also banned Robert from driving for three years.
