SWINDON Combined Court has received the Charter Mark Award for providing a top class service to the public.
The court, based in Islington Street, is one of 14 courts in the south west which have been given the award in recognition of enhancements made to help court users.
These include improvements such as clearer signs, baby changing facilities and the introduction of visits to courtrooms to make people's experience of court more welcoming and less intimidating.
Charter Mark officials assess applicants on the service they provide to customers.
They have to ask people what they want to see, respond to their views, change working practices and develop innovative ideas.
Rod White, Acting Circuit Administrator for the Western Circuit, said: "The Western Circuit serves a large and diverse area.
"It is therefore important that courts ask local communities what they would like to see at their local court and Charter Mark has been an important tool in that regard. It has directly led to improvements across the area, from Penzance to Aldershot."
