KANGAROOS are not and have never been a menace (letters, May 29). They have evolved with and are part of the Australian environment.
Their numbers build up at certain times in order to withstand the regular drought that can wipe out half the population.
Australia has a terrible wildlife record with six species of kangaroo extinct, four more extinct in the Australian mainland, seventeen species endangered or vulnerable.
Mr Tripley has ignored the terrible cruelty to baby kangaroos (joeys). Every year over a million are killed.
I personally do not agree with eating any meat as it is all cruel, unhealthy and damaging to the environment.
But I believe that most meat-eaters would find this barbaric slaughter of babies a good reason why we should have nothing to do with kangaroo products.
