LITTLE Danielle Hooke's dreams came true when she went to Buckingham Palace to meet the Queen and present her with a posy of white peonies.
On Monday seven-year-old Danielle and her grandmother Gina Sandford, of Parkfields, Chippenham, entered the palace gardens for the Queen's Coronation Day children's party, walking down a red carpet.
Danielle, a pupil at Redland County Primary School, in Chippenham, who lives with her grandmother, was one of 500 children invited to the party through various charities, such as Barnardos.
Mrs Sandford, 54, said they were stunned by what she described as a fairyland, with clouds of candyfloss, ice-cream, stilt walkers, a circus big-top and music from the Coldstream Guards, who played the theme tune to Star Wars.
When Danielle's big moment came she gave the Queen her flowers with a curtsy.
Danielle said: "I felt nervous, but she was very friendly and she was wearing a yellow dress."
Mrs Sandford, said her granddaughter practiced her curtsy every time they spoke for the three weeks.
"I don't think it sank in until she was on the train home, when she turned to me and said 'Wow I've met the Queen,'" Mrs Sandford said.
"She couldn't believe how old the Queen Mother was when she died and ever since then she's wanted to meet the Queen. I think it's every little girl's wish."
