HIGH Post Golf Club today stages the inaugural Salisbury Journal/High Post Corporate Golf Chall-enge with organisers so confident that the event will become an annual one that next year's date has already been provisionally booked.
Some 30 teams have accepted the challenge and as well as playing for the prestigious title, the victors will secure a place in the regional final of The Times/JP Morgan Cor-porate competition.
More than 100 players will participate in the progressive Stablemate event which will raise funds for the Riding for the Disabled Association's Wilton branch.
As well as a percentage of the entrance fee going to the charity, other funds from the day's star-studded raffle and auction will help boost the charity's coffers.
Prizes and auction items have been donated by a variety of local and national companies.
A signed shirt by Southampton FC's FA Cup final team is one of the most interesting items.
The principal organisers of the event are High Post members John Peters and Hugh Neffendorf.
American citizen Hugh, is managing director of management consultancy Katalysis while John, a committee member at the golf club, is managing director of VES Andover Ltd.
The duo said: "We hope to raise a substantial sum for the local RDA and we hope everyone will go away thinking what a good time they had."
Teeing off first will be the LE West team of Peter Grimes, Wain Powell, Frank Chapman and Jim Murdock.
Other teams taking part include representatives from Buddens Coaches, HSBC Bank plc, Dunlop Hiflex, Trethowans and James Hay.
