Young journalists selected to produce a new youth magazine put their skills into practice at the hi-tech Corsham Media Park last week.
Eighteen teenagers from across the county were selected from hundreds of applicants to help produce the magazine db8 debate published by Wiltshire County Council.
And they put together a dummy layout for the new magazine
Council press officer Sian Penlington said although the young people would not be making the final editorial decisions they would be heavily involved in the magazine.
"The council are producing the magazine with the help of young people. We will be using their input to put the magazine together," she said.
The volunteers aged 14 to 19 came together for the first time on Friday.
The would-be journalists practiced their interviewing skills on members of staff frombusinesses at the park and put their ideas on to paper.
The teenagers then volunteered for positions on the editorial team such as reporters, photographers, artists and cartoonists.
A small editorial team will then be selected from all the volunteers and they will be responsible for how the magazine looks, what goes into it and making sure it goes to print.
The team will be made up of two joint editors, news editors, sub-editors and picture editors. A core design team is already in place headed by three young people and a professional graphic designer.
It is anticipated the publication will be printed quarterly and the first edition will be published in the autumn.
