HAMPTON Park were glad to win the toss and elected to bat first in the sunshine. Both openers were in fine form and posted an opening stand of 137 before Steve Dinnis was bowled for 30.

Gary Stafford's excellent 108 was ably supported by Martyn Nokes, 21, and Mickey Potter and Mike Fiddy, with 14 apiece. Park finally amassed 255 as Holloway took 3-17 and Hoskins, Hinxman and O'Brien all chipped in with two wickets each.

Paultons also had a great start with an opening stand of 86 between Newman, 66, and Dumm, 29. However, after the pair departed, Paultons failed to keep up with the required run-rate and eventually closed just 34 runs short in a thrilling match which produced almost 500 runs.
