CALNE Town councillors are set to begin regular ward surgeries outside Sainsbury's to answer questions and give townsfolk the opportunity to voice concerns.
The surgeries are planned to take place on the first Saturday of every month and are open to local people without appointment.
The idea came from Calne's new deputy mayor Carol O' Gorman and will initially include only the council's 11 Liberal Democrats members.
But Coun O'Gorman, who is also a Liberal Democrat, insisted there was no political agenda and has just not had the opportunity to put her idea to the rest of the town council.
She said she hoped all the town's councillors would eventually be involved.
"We felt that many people just see the town councillors for the election and that's it," said Coun O'Gorman. "We want to be seen as being pro-active people working hard for Calne.
"You hear about the councillors, but if you ask people who's your town councillor often they don't know who it is, where to go or how to find them."
The first surgery will take place on Saturday 7, June from 10.30am to noon.
Coun O'Gorman said she was confident there would be at least one representative from each of Calne's six political wards available to answer any questions.
