IN a break with tradition, this year's Calne Carnival will feature a week of events rather than just one day.
Organisers hope that this will create a party atmosphere in the town before the procession of floats on June 14.
The week starts with an angling competition on Saturday afternoon, followed by a family quiz evening at the Conservative Club, Church Street, starting at 7.30pm for 8pm.
On Sunday, the town's teddy bears and their owners are invited to a picnic with a storyteller, games and barbecue on the Green from 2.30pm.
A carnival princess and two Butterfly princesses were chosen last month and last Sunday the carnival baby competition started, to be judged on June 13 after a week of voting.
And the race is on for members of Calne's Chamber of Commerce to decorating their windows in a carnival theme by Saturday.
Judging will take place on June 12-13.
