THE newly appointed Bishop of Kasese, in Uganda, Bishop Jackson Nzerebende, and his wife Dorothy saw how the British institution of Meals on Wheels operates in the Devizes area last week.
Bishop Jackson and his wife went out with the team supplying hot meals to elderly people in the area and found out at first hand how the Women's Royal Voluntary Service runs the service and how it is valued by its clients.
He also heard the service is always keen to welcome volunteers.
The couple were in Devizes to thank the local church community in for its financial support of Kasese diocese. More than £400 was raised last year to help pay for the university education of a student whose father was killed in an accident.
On Sunday the Bishop worshipped in St John's Church, Devizes, in the morning and preached at a Deanery service at Bishops Cannings in the evening.
In the afternoon he and his wife were the guests of honour at a garden party at the home of Francis and Jill Chadwick, in Devizes.
Bishop Jackson took worship at a service at St James Church, Southbroom, on Wednesday morning before the couple returned to Uganda.
