A COUPLE from Westbury celebrated their golden wedding anniver-sary this week.

Cyril and Pamela Harberd from West-bury were married on May 30, 1953.

The service was held at St Nicholas Church in North Bradley on the same day and in the same church, where Pamela's parents were married in 1925. They met at a social at the Laverton in 1947, when Pamela was 16.

Mrs Harberd said: "I think our love of music and dancing was something that brought us together and has kept us together ever since."

Mr Harberd, 74, was in the forces when they met, and comes from a long line of musicians. He teaches the drums and plays the trombone in Warminster Brass Band. The couple have a son and daughter, five grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.

Mrs Harberd said she thinks youngsters grow up too quickly now and may miss out on some of the great times she and her husband have had together. She said: "Our advice is not to rush life, or take things too quickly. People should make time to stop and smell the roses."
