A SCHOOLGIRL was taken to hospital after she was knocked down while leaving Dorcan Technology College.
The accident happened at 3.35pm yesterday in St Paul's Drive and the girl, who has not been named, was taken to the Great Western Hospital with leg injuries.
She was in collision with a black Vauxhall Vectra which police have confirmed was not speeding.
The Dorcan Technology College pupil left the school with friends via a small bridge which crosses Dorcan Stream and leads into St Paul's Drive.
Acting Sgt Chris Palfrayman of Swindon traffic police said the girl was conscious and talking to her mother in the ambulance.
He said: "This was a one vehicle collision and we would appeal for witnesses to come forward as the area was quite busy following the end of the school day."
Dorcan head Dr Scott Sissons said: "Police are investigating the accident and I will be following its progress."
Witnesses are asked to call Acting Sgt Palfrayman on Swindon 528111.
