LAGER louts will have to watch their language or face being barred from a Trowbridge pub after a swearing ban was put into effect.
Staff at the Sir Isaac Pitman pub, in Market Street, will be listening out for foul language and cursing after the JD Wetherspoon chain banned swearing in its 650 outlets.
The country's largest chain, which has already banned smoking in designated seating areas, is also considering a ban on mobile phones by the end of the year.
Company bosses brought in the swearing ban to help stamp out the image of Britain's pubs being a haven for raucous behaviour and casual cursing.
Chief executive Tim Martin said the management team decided to bring in the ban to help create a peaceful and relaxing environment for customers.
Warnings will be printed on signs and menus to help get the message across.
If customers fail to heed warnings they could be thrown out of the pub and face bans.
