A TEAM of green-fingered students lent a helping hand in the garden at Trowbridge library on Wednesday.
The horticulture students at Wiltshire College, Lackham spent two hours at the library as part of their course work.
The library garden is normally cared for by staff, but Wiltshire College lecturer Sarah Chaser offered the skills of her students as part of a day of practical work they were doing.
Community librarian Christine Isaac said: "We were very pleased with their work.
"It looks good at the moment and will be even better when the plants bloom in July."
The college had plenty to celebrate last week after staff and students scooped a gold medal at the Bath and West Show for their garden exhibit.
The college's walk-through garden entitled 'Growing Vegetables for Food, Pleasure and Leisure' was comprised entirely of non-green vegetables.
The display, which focused on how to use vegetables to decorate your garden, also featured a summerhouse and a floral arch.
Carl Gill, head of horticulture at the college, said: "Our exhibit is based on a large display of varied and unusual vegetables in the setting of a leisure garden.
"The exhibit took three days to build and is both visual and educational.
"All the plants have been grown specially for the show by staff and horticulture students studying for National Certificate and Diploma qualifications."
