PURTON ended the unbeaten record of Wiltshire Cricket League Division One pacesetters Westinghouse as Mark Gardner smashed 84 not out in a six-wicket win.

Aided by Simon Pugh (46 not out), Gardner rescued his side from 46-4 after Chris Ferris' 63 not out had seen Westinghouse to 165-5.

The only other unbeaten side, Biddestone, were downed by Calne after being bowled out for 165.

Chris Downham (3-22) and Rob Anstey (3-34) were the pick as Dwaine Perry scored 84.

Lea Bates' 59 not out led the reply and, though Gordon Mackrell took 4-50, Calne won by four wickets off the last ball to go top.

Collingbourne and Nationwide House maintained their challenges with comfortable home victories.

Nationwide entertained winless Beanacre and restricted them to 126-9 (Mark Flay 5-45). Paul Sherwood's 50 and Kevin Flay (57 not out) saw helped knock the runs off in 25 overs.

Collingbourne bowled Potterne out for 128 (Barry Langfield 5-24) as Tom Edmunds (44) and Graham Chandler (44 not out) helped them to a six wicket success.

Bath Civil Service slipped up at home to Burbage & ER. After bowling them out for 113 they could then only manage 105-9 in reply.

Division Two

Cherhill remain unbeaten at the top, while Minety and Highworth still seek a first win.

At Cherhill, Great Bedwyn were dismissed for 115, as Ed Harrison took 5-20. A knock of 42 not out from Mark Gresham helped Cherhill to a six-wicket win.

In a derby at Swindon Civil Service, Highworth were bowled out for 121, Nick Money taking 4-30. Shaun Smith (59) and Mike Giddings (52 not out) ensured an easy nine wicket win for the hosts.

A knock of 42 from Bob Fernandez helped Buscot Park to 175-8 at Urchfont, who were bowled out for 107 as Rob Owen took 5-19.

Lechlade made 143-8 against visiting Sutton Veny, for whom Rob Cook took 4-27. Nick Smith replied with 5-54 to turn the game Lechlade's way as they dismissed Sutton Veny for 132.

Division Three

Wroughton Wranglers continue to lead following their comfortable 91-run home win against Heytesbury.

Hendy Alleyne 69, Mike Evans 64 not out and Mark Nettlefold 56 helped them to 238-3 before Heytesbury were held to 147-8.

Second-placed Seagry made 178 all out at home to Blunsdon with Adam Lawrence (64) top scoring, Nick Lancaster taking 3-46 and Kevin Aubrey 3-47.

Blunsdon found runs hard to come by as William Tidmarsh (4-26) and Ian Thurgood (3-50) helped skittle them out for 120.

At Swindon, Bathford scored 173-9, Paul Clark taking 3-43 for the third team who, despite 46 from Aaron Dickinson, were dismissed for 139.

Dauntsey Gentlemen made 171-8 at Wanborough thanks to 57 from Tony Summers and James Smith's 44, Andy Clinning taking 4-40. A score of 51 from Mike Pethick and Dave Haydon's 30 could help Wanborough to only 113-9.

Visitors Spye Park made 175-7 at Moredon Royal Oak as Andy Ellis struck 50. Moredon ended on 175-9, Phil Morton hitting 41 and Tom Harding taking 3-55.

Division Four

Lambourn are setting the pace with six wins from six, after overcoming a tough Bradford Town side by two runs.

They made 195-5, Paul Annetts scoring 41, then taking 3-40 to clinch victory.

Westbury 3rd defeated visiting Coates by 24 runs to get off the mark.

They made 160-9 and Coates were finally dismissed for 136.

Division Five

DAVE Allen scored 100 not out as Purton 2nd scored 164-7 at Buscot, Willy Townsend taking 4-53. In reply Adrian Morbey's 53 not out helped Buscot to a three-wicket win.

Burbage beat United Churches as Paul Swatton's 64 took them to 189-7.

Adam Rumnold then made 41 not out but Swatton's 3-26 saw Churches dismissed for 147.

Nettleton's Graham Witt scored 86 to take his side to 201-4 at Keevil, who they then bowled out for 94.

Litten Tree emerged with a 21-run win at home to Chippenham 3rd after making 159 (Rob Mercer 56, John Haines 5-52).

A knock of 66 from Ray Bullen was just not enough for Chippenham as Julian Brown (3-26) and Matty Dunn (3-16) bowled them out for 138.

Lavington scored 169 all out at Devizes 3rd, Mark Hulse 39, and John Wiltshire took 5-52 as Rich Read (46) and Nigel Worthy (45) saw Devizes reach 169 too, their last wicket falling with 15 balls left.

Division Six

Biddestone 2nd remain unbeaten after scoring 186 all out at Calne 2nd, Anthony Christopher contributing 48 and Danny Knights taking 4-53.

In reply, Alan Munch took 6-12 as Calne were all out for 151, Knights hitting 51.

Westinghouse scored 176 all out at home to Lacock with Paul Grace making 39 not out and Alex Doel taking 5-24. Lacock collapsed to 43 all out as Andy Day took 7-22.

Hosts Cooper-Avon Tyres 2nd were bowled out for 57 by Nationwide House 2nd for whom Alan Lewis took 5-29 in 12.3 overs, Nationwide going on to win by six wickets.

All Cannings gained their first win at Trowbridge as a fine 97 by Richard Holman helped them to 194-9 (Dave Kemp 5-51). Trowbridge fell 11 runs short of victory on 184-9.

Goatacre 3rd scored 201-8 at home to Wootton Bassett 3rd, with Andy Sandell scoring 51 and Richard Grigg 41. Bassett's Ben Thurkell took 3-40 and hit a fine 99, while 58 not out from Geoff Belager helped them to a six-wicket success.

Division Seven

Bradford Town 2nd lead the division following a four-wicket home success against formerly unbeaten Cherhill 2nd.

Cherhill were bowled out for 75 (41 extras) as Keith Taylor returned figures of 14-4-25-8 a second team best.

But Steve Hutchinson's 2-27 and Malcolm Parrack (3-28) made them work for victory.

Bath Civil Service 2nd thrashed Dauntsey Gentlemen by 10 wickets while Potterne 2nd rattled up 228-4 (David Evans 42, Paul Stevens 40 not out, Brendan Baker 38, Ashley Wrench 39) against Marshfield 3rd.

Baker then took 4-43 and Tony Bayes 4-48 as Marshfield were bowled out for 98.

Division Eight

Corsham 4th opened a gap as they retained their unbeaten record at the expense of Highworth 2nd.

Highworth were bowled out for 85 (Mike Hicks 3-22, Graham Ings 3-13) and Mike Unwin (43) saw Corsham home by eight wickets.

All Cannings 2nd saw off local rivals Devizes 4th thanks to Andy Legg's 92 in 193 all out. Legg then took 7-8 as Devizes fell to 59 all out.

At Bathford 2nd, John Higgs (43) top scored in a total of 144-6 against Swindon 4th for whom Mushtaq took 3-30. A knock of 65 not out from Mel Grant then saw Swindon to a comfortable six-wicket victory.

Collingbourne 2nd visited Chippenham 4th and gained a narrow eight-run win.

Ed Oldroy's 52 helped them to 185-7 and although Gavin Smith (44), Andy Dyer (26) and Daniel Young (25) always kept Chippenham in the hunt, the overs ran out with them at 177-9.
