ERIC SABIN will complete his move to Queens Park Rangers in the next 24 hours and is hungry to help the Hoops bounce back from their play-off heartbreak - at Town's expense if necessary.
The Frenchman is mulling over the one-year contract offered by Rangers boss Ian Holloway and Sabin is 'excited' by the challenge ahead.
He said: "We are very close to reaching an agreement with Queens Park Rangers and I feel very happy about that.
"The prospect of playing for this team excites me but I have to make sure that everything is right off the pitch.
"My family is the most important thing and it is vital that practical matters are right such as finding somewhere calm and quiet to live.
"If a player is happy off the pitch he is more likely to perform on it."
The 28-year-old has been chased by Hoops boss Holloway ever since he helped destroy Rangers in a 3-1 win in a Division Two game at the County Ground in March.
He said: "The fact that QPR did not gain promotion to the First Division made no difference to me. They were only five minutes away from having a very good chance to go up and I want to help put aside the feeling of disappointment and push again for promotion."
All that remains is for Sabin to give Rangers a 'yes' or a 'no' and all the indications are that it will be a 'oui' from the pacy Frenchman.
He said: "The ball is in my court and maybe it could be all agreed in the next two days."
Despite a poor scoring return in a Town shirt over two seasons, football has an unpleasant tradition of seeing players net against their former club.
Sabin said: "I have always said that Swindon Town means a lot to me and if I do score against my friends next season, I would like to apologise in advance."
According to Loftus Road chief executive David Davies, a verbal agreement has been reached with the striker.
Sabin will be the first released Town player to secure a new club.
The other high-profile departure, Danny Invincible, has yet to sort himself out with a new club despite rumours linking him with Crystal Palace, Wigan Athletic and PSV Eindhoven. Full-back Kevin Halliday has played in a trial game for Colchester, while midfielder Nathan Edwards has been linked to Forest Green.
