A 50-mile cycle ride is planned around Swindon's country lanes.

The British Heart Foundation's Wiltshire Cycle Ride will start and finish at Lydiard Park on Sunday, July 13.

A second course of 25 miles is also being prepared.

Both routes will be clearly signposted and marshalled at key points around the villages of Great Somerford, Hullavington, Easton Grey, Ashton Keynes and Minety.

There will be a staggered start from 9am, with the last riders leaving by 10.30am, and refreshment points located every 10 miles along the way.

Paul Bancroft, the British Heart Foundation's area organiser for Wiltshire, said: "The ride offers great opportunities to engage in a healthy, challenging and fun day out with family and friends and to contribute to the ongoing fight against all too prevalent heart disease."

It costs £5 to enter before July 8, and £10 thereafter.
