TAYLER Aitken rescued Wootton Bassett against Calne in the North WIltshire Junior Cricket League Under 11s section with an unbeaten 38.

Bassett were also helped by Sam Packer's 20 as they closed on 86-3.

In reply, only Stewart Windsor (12) offered much resistance as Calne reached 46-7 while Jack Paish took two wickets for Bassett.

Corsham batted first at Biddestone and scored 78-6 thanks to Will Collier (19) and Bradley Barnes (18). Biddestone struggled with the bat managing to hang on for a losing draw reaching 51-8.

At Malmesbury the home side started poorly but bounced back to clinch victory over Chippenham Blades.

Nicholas Harrison dismissed the first two Malmesbury batsmen without scoring while Robert Gillespie (35no) and Matthew Beck (13no) rescued the innings, taking Malmesbury to 74-2.

Chippenham's reply was led by James Harding, who scored a fine 30, but against accurate Malmesbury bowling the Blades could only muster 63-5.

In the Under 15 section, Max Sparrow's score of 33 helped Malmesbury to 99 against Biddestone.

Opener Chris Lawton (26) top scored for Biddestone as the target was reached for the loss of six wickets in. Sparrow did however follow up his good innings by taking 3-23 with the ball.
