I hear in the media, squeezed in between the latest news about David Beckham, that Royal Mail, which spent several millions changing its name to Consignia, has now become Royal Mail again.

And now it says it is going to save £90 million a year by switching all distribution to air and road and ceasing to use rail (that is saving £90 million after allowing for the extra costs incurred; extra staff, extra lorries and all ancillary expenses).

So this must mean that Royal Mail must have been paying Network Rail (who were Railtrack out of British Rail) much more than the £90 million that Royal Mail are going to save each year!

So could we be informed by that secretive body, Network Rail, how much this saving to Royal Mail of £90 million will add to Network Rail's angelic non-profit making activities and how much the salaries and all the extras of those responsible for this failure will be reduced.

Or do we the paying class pay all of it again?

It makes yer fink don't it!
