TELEVISION vet Trude Mostue delighted youngsters at Redland Primary School in Chippenham last week when she answered questions about her career and presented the school with its Investors In People award.
Trude sprang to fame as a young vet in the television series Vets In Practice. Trude, who now lives in Bath, visited the primary school on June 2 and brought her ten-month-old daughter, Freya, along too.
She met headteacher Hilary Etherington and staff at the school before leading an assembly for the whole school. "She is a really warm and friendly person," said Mrs Etherington. "The event was a real high spot for us and the children are still talking about it."
Trude handed over the Investors In People plaque and certificate to Mrs Etherington and then answered questions from each class. One class asked her which was the fiercest animal she had worked with, and Trude replied it was a white shark. She said her most exciting time was a period spent working with bears in the USA, and her favourite animal was the cat.
Mrs Etherington said: "One pupil asked her how she felt when she failed her exams the first time, and she said it made her a better person because she learned that if you want something you have to work for it. Her responses were very appropriate and helpful and easy for the children to understand."
Investors in People is awarded to organisations with a proven commitment to developing their staff.
