SALISBURY'S Richard Stanton is spearheading the challenge of the De Walt Race Sport team at this weekend's Le Mans 24 hour race.
Stanton is one of six drivers in the all-British team which is bidding for success across the channel in their TVR.
"We could have taken a foreign car, but we wanted to prove that a British manufacturer can take on the majors," said Richard.
"I have wanted to take a TVR to Le Mans for a long time now. There's also some national pride at stake. We want to show that a proper British car - owned, built and powered by British engineers and technology - can succeed without foreign help."
Stanton, 41, made his racing debut in 1999 in the TVR Tuscan Chall-enge Series and last year competed at Le Mans in a Morgan Aero 8.
