THE Gooding family who farm at Colerne are opening a new pick your own fruit business today.
Three generations have farmed in the village over more than 60 years.
Now the third generation Peter and Kate Gooding have decided to diversify and start a fruit picking business at Oaks Farm.
Mr Gooding, 36, said: "We have strawberries and raspberries at the moment but we hope to have more things in the future. We also sell organic jersey cream and organic vegetables grown by our neighbour."
Mrs Gooding, 30, who looks after Harry, two, and three-month-old Olly, will run the business.
Once the pick your own business is up and running, the family hope to add a slide and swings so children can play while their parents pick fruit.
The farm will also offer ready picked orders and will pick larger amounts of fruit for a party or village fair.
Customers will be able to collect their order at the farm gate.
Mr Gooding said: "There are not many pick your own businesses in the area. There is only a handful within 15 miles. Everyone goes to the supermarket but people can come here and get fresh fruit and it is a picturesque spot."
The family farms 800 hectares with arable, beef and sheep.
Mr Gooding's parents Bob Gooding, 69, and Dink, 52, also work on the farm with Peter's brother, Ian, 33.
Peter Gooding said: "We live and work together and it is quite harmonious. We all live very close and always know what each other is doing. It works for the family and the business."
