THE Bangladeshi government has awarded Badrul Amin of Malmesbury a certificate for his work sending medical equipment to Bangladesh.
Mr Amin, of Alexander Road, was given the award by the Bangladesh health minister, the Rt Hon Quamrul Islam, last month.
Over the past ten months Mr Amin has been using his own money to buy thousands of pounds worth of second-hand medical equipment from Hilditch Auctioneers in Malmesbury, and transported it to Sylhet in north Bangladesh, a journey that has often been fraught with difficulties.
Mr Amin said: "I am very proud of this certificate which is in honour of my activities sending medical equipment to Bangladesh."
The equipment has been rendered obsolete by technological advances in the UK, but is life saving in Bangladesh. Mr Amin is now trying to find financial support to send over a Land Rover that will be kitted out as a medical rapid response vehicle.
Anyone wishing to help should get in contact with Mr Amin on (01666) 824079.
