THE multisports complex in Crudwell was officially opened on Saturday after a year-long campaign to get it built.
The complex was the vision of 39 -year-old mother-of-two Rebecca Thomson who succumbed to a rare form of brain cancer in March 2002.
An action group was formed after her death and villagers raised £45,000 in just nine months for the complex.
Widower Simon Thomson, 41, said he and his two children Anna, ten, and Alex, 13, had already enjoyed a game of tennis.
"I am very pleased. I did not think it would happen this quickly," he said.
A tennis group is already using the complex's courts. It also has netball, basketball and five-a-side football facilities and has taken four months to build.
The courts operate by a booking scheme and anyone wishing to use them should call Annie Smith on (01666) 577091.
Half of the cash to fund the complex came from North Wiltshire District Council. Under the landfill tax credit scheme, the project was also given £10,000. Bison Plant Hire and ACD Landscape Architects donated their services, and the village hall donated £5,000.
