Swindon Supermarine A and B fought out the10th local derby in the latest round of Swindon & District 4-Rink League matches, the A side coming out on top by just one shot 75-74.
With fluctuating fortunes on all four rinks Richard Gardiner looked to have given the B side victory with a 27-8 win over Brian Brown.
Alan Penfold pulled 11 shots back with a 22-11 win over Frank Gardiner, Arthur Wilkinson picked up six shots with a 25-19 win over Bill Jordon and Eddie Boulton waded in with a three-shot win over Gordon Ludlow 20-17 to enable the A side to land the spoils by one shot.
Rodbourne Cheney regained the leadership of Division One with a crushing 102-62 win over Wroughton to make it six wins out of six.
Garry Morphet's rink was in sparkling form with a 39-10 win over Stan Clapton.
Tony Flemington's rink won 20-15 over R Jefferies and Steve Cornish beat Jim Hunter's rink 23-15. Roger Cornish's rink kept the flag flying for Wroughton picking up two points with a 22-20 win over Dave Jones.
Deposed league leaders Shrivenham lost their way against Wootton Bassett B, losing out 99-66.
Adam Small's rink did the damage with a resounding 36-13 success over John Winskill. Ken Roe picked up a further six shots with a 26-18 win over Brian Haywood. The other two rinks were quite tight with Dave Snell gaining a one-shot success 19-18 over Ken Downton and H Jones beating John Simson 20-17.
Wootton Bassett B, who were promoted from Division Two last season after going through the league programme undefeated, moved into third spot in the table with just one defeat from six matches.
Wootton Bassett A found things tough at Cricklade and were beaten 98-65, John Wilks picking up two points for Bassett with a 23-21 rink win over John Witts. For Cricklade there were good rink wins from Colin Missen, Dave Mitchell, Eddie Wells.
Highworth accounted for Westlecot A 88-76 and Swindon gained a 93-70 win over Stratton Churchways B.
There was a shock result in Division Two where leaders Town Gardens were beaten 80-67 by West End. It was only the second match West End had won and owed a great deal to the rink of Bertie Biggs, who beat Dave Herald 29-6. Carl Fernandes' rink weighed in with a further 18 shots, beating Malcolm Price 29-11.
Town Gardens fought back to pick up two rink victories, Les Sullivan beating S Manning 25-15 and Barry Pittuck gaining a 25-7 success over Les Large.
Wanborough won their first match at the seventh attempt, beating Westlecot B 88-87. There were close matches on three rinks, all ending up in favour of Wanborough's John Emmins beating Ron Salisbury 25-23, G Packer chalking up a three-shot win over Dave Rigby and Roy Core beating Owen Thomas 24-20. Jamie Titcombe picked up two points for Weslecot with a 22-14 win over John Anderson.
