Winsley 95
LDCC Fonthill reached the regional final of the village knockout, with a two wicket win over Winsley on Sunday.
Friday's rain left the wicket at Fonthill Park in a very damp condition, and after winning the toss, captain Keith Steer had no hesitation in putting the visitors into bat.
As expected, runs were hard to come by as Peter Slade, 7.4-4-9-3, Shaun Roundell, 9-2-20-3, and Tom Parnell, 9-1-27-1, worked their way through the visitors' batting.
The fielding was sharp, particularly on the ground, and Winsley subsided to 95 all out in 37 overs.
Heavy rain had interrupted the innings and LDCC only got into bat shortly after 6pm.
They fared little better early on, losing their four top batsmen for less than 30 runs to Alan Cross 9-1-26-4.
However, their middle order, often criticised for its lack of 'bottle', dug in, and slowly ground their way towards the target.
Jon Sealy, 24, battled well, but it was left to the ninth wicket pairing of Tom Parnell, 13 not out, and Kevin Farrelly, five not out, to see them home.
They will now meet either Shrewton or Beanacre in the regional final at Fonthill Park on Sunday, June 22.
